HE162

Post by Franny »

When I took my mini HE162 to the site on Wednesday a number of people wanted to know how the fuselage was built.
I tried to explain but did not make a good job of it.
I have found some pics that should show it better.
Pic 1. 3mm balsa former. 0,8 x 3,0 balsa wrapped around former & butt joined, this is then laminated with another strip & glued to the 1st one. It is not glued to the former.
Pic 2. After all formers have been made they are threaded onto a 6mm carbon rod & tack glued into position.
Pic 3. 1,5mm Planking is applied to the laminated formers.
The original 3mm formers are then cutout & the rod removed (fiddly), leaving a very light but strong tube.
Hope this helps. Pete.
